She warns that this trend is suffocating Ghana’s film industry by sidelining homegrown productions and reducing opportunities for local filmmakers.

Speaking at the National Film Dialogue in Accra, Ankomah highlighted how these soap operas dominate airtime around the clock, pushing out Ghanaian films and limiting job creation and economic growth within the creative sector. She urged government action to implement policies that protect and promote local content, ensuring Ghanaian stories get the spotlight they deserve.
