What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxLabone, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxLabone event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

One of the most invaluable assets in today’s global economy is ‘ideas’. Forming the backbone of many a great achievement, ideas stimulate creativity and innovation. At TEDxLabone, participants will take part in a TED-like experience that will ultimately equip and inspire them into boundless possibilities.

With a community focus, TEDxLabone will convene 100 of the most innovative and creative minds from across Ghana.

Believe it or not, it took us weeks to come up with a theme. In the end, we arrived at something broad, but pertinent to TEDx event. Our theme, Inform.Educate.Empower, means that we expect each TEDxTalk (a) to be informative; (b) to educate the audience; and above all (c) to empower our audience. Quite simply, ideas empower. A good idea, properly leveraged, can have an immense effect on our future. TedxLabone “ Creating Spaces for Hope and Possibility.
