Our dependence on almost everything foreign is the cancer to our development. What is independence without the freedom of choice, the mandate to be responsible, the power and pride to become what we really are as a people?
Independent-in-Dependence is set to “sanko” 63 years ago to reflect on who and what we were, what we have become today while projecting into the future of the ordinary Ghanaian to ascertain whether we are truly independent or still in dependence. Over the years successive governments have been blowing taxpayers money to celebrate what is known to be Independence Day.
The question we want to ask is, what is independence and what does it really mean to the Ghanaian today? Is it the free day off work and or the no school today for the young ones? Is it the waving of tiny Ghana flags made in china and or the pleasure of drinking a golden lager beer?
What is independence to you when almost everything that is supposed to make us independent is heavily dependent on foreigners? Why do we celebrate Independence Day and yet, heavily in dependence to our once upon a time.
Join us at the Folks Place of the National Theatre of Ghana on Thursday 5th March, 7pm as we creatively expose, dispose and explode lyrical missals in the direction of all those whom it may concern. Terms and Conditions apply.
